A listener called in to share appreciation for what they believed was a positive shift on the Bobby Bones Show, criticizing a former member as negative and saying the new addition, Daniel, was a major improvement.
The listener described Daniel as relatable and down-to-earth, noting that while he could be slightly grumpy at times, he felt like “a man of the people.” The compliment brought some smiles in the room, but the show clarified that there had been no staffing change and that Daniel was not a new hire, that is just Lunchbox's real name. For decades now Lunchbox has only been known by that name, but after his new fame from The Price is Right, the secret is out about his real name and people can't stop using it. Lunchbox insisted the situation was being misunderstood. He grew frustrated, calling the ongoing confusion “stupid and old,” and demanded that references to Daniel stop being included, particularly from listeners.
The show challenged him, pointing out that the confusion stemmed from his recent appearance on The Price Is Right, where he wore a name tag that read “Daniel.” According to Lunchbox, this wasn’t his choice, as the show would not allow him to use his on-air name. So Lunchbox proposed that the show could only use "Daniel" when specifically discussing his appearance on The Price Is Right, but not in any other context. However, even that agreement quickly unraveled as the show continued to blur the lines, intentionally provoking more confusion. The show said if Lunchbox was so concerned about his real name Daniel ever being used again, then he should just officially change his name to Lunchbox. But he dismissed that idea.
