Bobby shared that he and his wife had dinner together for the first time since welcoming their child.
Since having a baby, their routine usually involves one of them eating while the other holds or watches the baby. They recently went on a walk and, after returning home, took advantage of a rare moment. The baby enjoys the car seat, so he unhooked it and placed it on the counter while they reheated food in the microwave. They then sat at the bar and ate together. He described it as their first time having a meal together with hot food in two weeks, joking that it felt like they were young again, “just two kids on a hot date.” Bobby is impressed with the versatility of their baby gear, explaining that the car seat not only snaps into the stroller but also rocks. Although they currently use the bassinet attachment for walks, he noted how impressed he is with how modern strollers function, comparing them to transformers because of how easily they come apart and go back together. He added that, despite their convenience, they are expensive.
He also mentioned receiving criticism online, saying people often comment on how he uses the bassinet. He explained that when it’s zipped, it only covers the baby’s feet, not the face, but people still warn him about things like the “greenhouse effect.” He added that someone even commented about his phone being placed on the bassinet, claiming the rays could harm the baby, even though it wasn’t near the baby at all. He shrugged it off, saying people on the internet will say anything. He then shared one of his favorite baby tools, a rubber ducky that measures bath water temperature. He explained that newborn bath water should be between 98 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit, roughly body temperature. While he’s gotten better at judging the temperature himself, he appreciates the reassurance the duck provides as it floats and displays the temperature.
He offered advice for other parents, recommending zip-up onesies over snap ones. The zip style, which runs across the body, is much easier to use, while snaps can come undone and are more difficult to manage. He also addressed comments he’s received about his appearance, specifically people saying he has small calves in photos where he’s pushing the stroller. His response was direct, telling them to “screw off.” Amy went over to Bobby's house after the show to get a pan she had lended them with a meal. She had brought macaroni and cheese to them when they went to the hospital, because Bobby's wife had been craving it. Amy dropped it off and even sent a photo of their dog waiting by the window for them to return home.
Bobby added that his wife loved the macaroni and cheese so much that she didn’t want anyone else eating it, joking that she would get upset if she caught her mom having some. Amy said that visit made her want a baby because of how cute it was. Bobby joked that he had texted his wife to “keep Amy away from the baby” because she might try to take it. He asked Amy if she would be willing to babysit, and she quickly said yes, adding that she would enjoy it. When asked again if they would actually trust Amy to watch the baby after her comments, he jokingly said no.
