Brad Paisley Debuts Nostalgic '90s Love Song From 'Never-Ending' Project

Brad Paisley debuted a nostalgic ‘90s ballad from a new, ongoing project.

Paisley released “Fallin’” on Monday (May 11), a ballad he wrote with Chris DuBois and Frank Rogers. The country superstar shared on Instagram, “at the time we wrote this, that was the sound. The sound of a love song. And when we went into cut this, it felt just immediately like, ‘oh, this is love in the ‘90s.’ And a lot of the kids that buy records and stream music now, you weren’t alive to feel love in the ‘90s yet. But you’re a product, probably, of this kind of song. You might be here because of this kind of song.”

“Fallin’” is the first track to release from Tacklebox, an ongoing project that will include music “from his extensive catalog of unreleased and unrecorded songs, dating back to the 90s, when his career began,” states a press release issued Monday morning. Other Tacklebox tracks were inspired by the “unmistakable” ‘90s country style defined by Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Alabama and others, plus ’80s legends George Strait and Garth Brooks, to name a few.

“I see this ‘project’ as never-ending. It’s almost like the fans have a direct link to my Dropbox or to a playlist that never ends,” Paisley said in a statement. “We are calling it Tacklebox because it’s a box full of hooks, country lyric hooks. In this digital age, I have every song I’ve ever written at my fingertips. This project gave us a license to dig back into the catalog of songs that were never released, that feel like a time period, a style of writing, a sound, and nostalgia. We went back into the studio to record or re-record at The Castle in Franklin, TN, the same place where several of my first few albums were recorded. When I first started writing and recording music, I couldn’t have dreamed of the ability to put something out instantly for the fans.”

Paisley will release additional music from Tacklebox later this week, per the press release.
