“Kentucky Queen” Wynonna Judd delivered her first-ever live performance of an unreleased anthem when she took the stage over the weekend.
Judd unveiled the new song to the Stagecoach audience when she performed at the festival on Friday (April 24) at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. Judd posted a clip of the live debut on Instagram on Tuesday (April 28).
“Some songs are worth the wait… This one’s been waiting for this stage. Hi! I’m a Kentucky Queen,” she wrote in her caption. Commenters applauded the song and expressed eagerness for the legend’s new music; however, Judd has not announced a release date as of publication time on Wednesday (April 29).
Judd shared that “music is such a healer,” when she recently caught up with iHeartCountry. The Country Music Hall of Fame member, who is one half of The Judds with late mother Naomi Judd, said music “really brings people together in a way that’s really necessary today in our country. …People know BS when they see it and hear it, and they don’t want it anymore,” she continued later in the conversation.
“I have a lot of people that come sit around the fire and we, you know, we get very philosophical, and I hear people constantly say, ‘I’m just so tired of all the yelling and screaming and all the notes.’ Just sing it. …People are exhausted and they want something that’s real. And I’m trying really hard to stay that person. That’s my goal anyway.”
Judd is getting ready for a run of summer co-headlining shows with legendary rocker Melissa Etheridge. The “Why Not Me” powerhouse said the pairing with Etheridge came together “naturally,” and the two artists aim to pay tribute to the music that inspired them as they turned up their radios (including Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt and others for Judd). Judd remembered listening to the radio in her town’s square as “the greatest time of my life.” See the tour trailer here:
