Lainey Wilson went undercover at Stagecoach over the weekend.

Wilson, who headlined the festival on Saturday (April 25), was unrecognizable when she spoke with fans at the event, which took place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. The “Somewhere Over Laredo” superstar shared a glimpse of her disguise, taking on the alter ego of “Britney West.”

“It’s Britney, b*tch,” Wilson said with a wink and a nod to pop icon Britney Spears in a clip she shared on Instagram and TikTok. Wilson swapped her signature Louisiana accent for a California one, and wore a short, dark wig with her costume. Her fiancé, Devlin “Duck” Hodges, reacted, “I’m telling you, that voice is annoying.”

Wilson mingled with festival goers, who had “absolutely no clue” they were talking with the reigning Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year. She interviewed a few fans, asking about their favorite Lainey Wilson songs and whether they were excited for her performance. Wilson, dressed as “Britney West,” jokingly said in the video, “I’m not sure about that Lainey Wilson girl. She’s really just a huge horse’s a**,” and pointed toward the rear of a massive horse statue.

After interviewing fans as “Britney West,” Wilson surprised fans and revealed her true identity.

Wilson went on to take the stage after a delay because of an emergency evacuation. The temporary evacuation was ordered due to strong winds in the area. The Grammy-winning Bell Bottom Country star surprised festival goers with an impromptu change to her set, sharing the stage with Little Big Town and Riley Green after their performances were cut short and canceled, respectively, due to the evacuation.
