Maddie Font shared a heartfelt tribute to Taylor Kerr after they played their last show as Maddie & Tae.
Font said performing as Maddie & Tae one last time over the weekend “was the most magical way to close this chapter of life,” she wrote in a caption on Instagram. “To my soul sister [Taylor Kerr], thank you for giving me the courage to move to Nashville at 17 and chase this dream together for 15 years. We stayed true to who we were, didn’t compromise our morals or dignity in a yucky business, didn’t stay down and defeated for long, never lost our faith and clung tighter to each other through every low. I am so proud of what we built and our legacy will live on forever 🥹 here’s to the closing of this chapter and the beginning of a brand new adventure ❤️”
Font and Kerr met in 2010, thanks to their vocal coach, and launched their career as a duo a few years later. Maddie & Tae released breakout single “Girl in a Country Song” from their self-titled EP in 2014, and delivered their debut studio album the following year. Since then, the duo became known for “Die From A Broken Heart,” “Heart They Didn’t Break,” “Woman You Got,” “Chasing Babies & Raising Dreams” and more. The pair of best friends also married their husbands and began having children around the same time.
The two artists announced in December 2025 that they would part ways as a duo after 15 years together; however, Font and Kerr declined to call it a “breakup” when they shared the news with PEOPLE. Font will continue a solo music career, and Kerr will take a break “for the foreseeable future” to focus on her family.
Maddie & Tae recently relived their “unreal” final headlining show together, and released their own rendition of “You’ll Be in My Heart.” The duo’s spin on the heartfelt Tarzan ballad appears on Main Street Country, an EP featuring country covers of timeless Disney songs. Font and Kerr spoke with iHeartCountry about the song, which Font said “was super emotional, especially with what we were going through in our personal lives. …It feels like we’re kind of putting a title on a diary page with this song in our career, and it’s very, very special and sweet.”
