Kylie Morgan is engaged!
The country star, 30, announced on Tuesday morning (April 28) that she and fiancé Alek Halverson, 31, are getting married. Morgan shared details about the proposal with PEOPLE, revealing that Halverson proposed on April 21. Halverson made plans with Morgan to meet at a video production venue in Nashville, Tennessee, under the guise that they were meeting for a “content day…so I would be camera-ready without suspecting a thing,” Morgan told the publication. Halverson popped the question in an emotional moment that involved Ava, 2, his daughter from a previous relationship.
Ava brought Morgan the ring, Halverson knelt in front of the bride-to-be, and it was the easiest “yes” for the country artist. Morgan told PEOPLE, “in that moment, everything changed. Alek took my hand, with Ava right there beside them, and asked me to marry not only him but Ava, too. It was the easiest yes I've ever said. ...The second I saw Ava come around the corner holding the ring box, I completely lost it — in the best way,” she continued, beaming over her “dream ring.” “It was the most overwhelming, intimate and beautiful surprise.”
Morgan and Halverson met in 2019, and reconnected at a show years later. Morgan reflected that they were both ending “relationships that just weren’t right.” She and her ex-husband publicly confirmed their divorce in May 2025, following several months of separation. “In a lot of ways, we found each other exactly when we needed to. …We helped each other heal in ways we didn’t even know we needed, reshaping everything we thought we understood about love. From there, everything just fell into place so naturally — it felt like it was always meant to be.” Morgan told PEOPLE that she and Halverson have “such a beautiful life together,” and she embraced becoming a bonus parent to Ava. Morgan’s fiancé and stepdaughter-to-be have already influenced her songwriting, including “Then You Happened” and “Like My Own.” Both songs appear on Morgan’s 8-track album, The Healed Cowgirl, Pt. 1, which released earlier this month.
