Thomas Rhett offered glimpses of heartwarming moments with his wife, Lauren Akins, in a clip shared on Wednesday (December 3).
The country star took part in a reflective social media trend, sending a personal message to his younger self to share a meaningful perspective and set him on a life-changing path. Rhett said his “piece of advice” to his younger self is: “One day you’ll realize you’re in love with your best friend. It’s VERY important you tell her that.”
Rhett met Akins in elementary school. They dated briefly in high school, reunited as adults in 2011, and got engaged the same year. They got married in October 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee. They’ve since welcomed four daughters: Willa Gray (10), Ada James (8), Lennon Love (5) and Lillie Carolina (3). In August, Rhett and Akins announced that Akins is pregnant with Baby No. 5. They made the announcement with updated lyrics to the country star’s 2017 single, “Life Changes”: “Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad/ A big wrench got thrown in the plans we thought we had/ Now Lauren’s showing, got one on the way/ That’s five under 10, hey, what can I say?/ Yeah, life changes/ You wake up, ain’t nothin’ the same and life changes.”
