Ella Langley considers how her life couldâve turned out differently if it werenât for her free-spirited lifestyle in her âwerenât for the windâ music video. The cinematic storytelling visual premiered on Tuesday (March 25).
Langleyâs video arrives about a week after she posted a sneak peek that stirred engagement rumors. Eagle-eyed Instagram commenters pointed out the stunning ring Langley wore as she played her guitar; however, the Country Music Association Award winner clarified sheâs âmarried to my job.â
âMaybe that plane wouldnât ever take off/ Maybe that dust wouldnât fly off the drive/ Maybe that tumbleweed and me wouldnât leave every other sunrise/ Maybe Iâd settle down dig in some roots/ Find me a farmhouse find me you/ Maybe I wouldnât be already gone again/ If it werenât for the windâ
The video, directed by Langley and Wales Toney, opens with the quote, âgrowing out of the person you were, into the person you are now.â Langleyâs love interest pops the question early in the music video, and the bride-to-be begins planning the wedding with her fiancĂŠ. By the end of the story, however, the trailblazing singer-songwriter makes a discovery that prompts her to leave the engagement ring behind and chase her dreams instead.
Langleyâs âwerenât for the windâ appeared on still hungover, the 19-track deluxe edition of the Alabama-born country starâs debut album. The record also includes âhungover,â âbetter be tough,â âyou look like you love meâ with Riley Green, and more. âWerenât for the windâ was the first track to release from the extended album.
