I always dread it when someone asks me if I want the good news or the bad news first. I mean, obviously I would rather have NO bad news, ya know?
There's a new survey out, asking what people want to hear first. And the results? Almost twice as many people would rather hear the bad news first. That is the group I'm in. I would rather hear it and get it over with...then have it followed up with something a little lighter.
So how does it all break down, percentage wise? 57% want the bad news first, 29% want the good news and the rest, they just aren't sure.
And to go a little deeper into the survey, women are noticeably more likely than men to want to hear the bad news first.
It's like ripping off a band-aid. Do it quick and get it over with.
