Riley Green addressed a recent onstage injury during an appearance on Today Show Australia.

A concertgoer threw a phone from the crowd and struck Green, 37, during his performance over the weekend in at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne, Australia. Videos of that moment circulated on social media, and Green shared a glimpse of the five stitches he needed after the bloody injury. Green spoke about the incident with Today hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo in an interview shared on Tuesday (March 17).

“I did [get stitches]. Yeah. I didn’t get my ear pierced. That was a cell phone at a show the other day,” Green said during his interview on the show. “I wasn’t quick enough, I guess. I played, you know, 100+ shows a year for 12 to 15 years, and this is the first thing like this that’s happened. So, you can’t let one person kind of ruin the night for everybody, you know?

“I feel like they did [get the person who threw the phone],” he said. “I think they got thrown out. And I looked cool. There’s blood going down my face during the show.”

Throughout his appearance on Today, the Alabama-born singer-songwriter also spoke about his music, his new duet with award-wining country artist Carly Pearce, his acting debut on Yellowstone spinoff Marshals, and more. Watch the interview below.
