Morgan Evans paid tribute to country legend Garth Brooks with a cover of a 90s anthem on a new episode of God’s Country.

Evans delivered his rendition of “Ain’t Goin’ Down (’til the Sun Comes Up),” in the podcast episode that premiered on Tuesday morning (March 17). Brooks released the song on his fifth studio album, In Pieces, in 1993: “Ain't going down/ ’Til the sun comes up/ Ain't givin' in/ ’Til they get enough/ Going 'round the world/ In a pickup truck/ Ain't goin' down/ ’Til the sun comes up.”

Evans joined brothers and podcast hosts Dan and Reid Isbell on God’s Country days before he releases his new album, Steel Town. So far, the Australian singer-songwriter has released the title track, “Beer Back Home,” and “Two Broken Hearts” featuring Laci Kaye Booth from the 11-track project. Steel Town will arrive on Friday (March 20).

“This week The Brothers Hunt, host country star Morgan Evans joins the God’s Country Podcast for one of the funniest and most honest conversations they've had. Morgan talks about growing up in Australia, surfing in the US vs. AU, moving to Nashville, and the moment he first saw Keith Urban live and knew he wanted to make country music. Morgan also shares details about his album ‘Steel Town’ and what conspiracy theory he can't seem to wrap his brain around. The guys also dive into the reality of internet hate, why people talk different online than they do in real life, and the psychology behind comment section warriors. The episode ends with a Garth Brooks gravorite that will make you run to run through a brick wall.”

Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke CombsMiranda LambertScotty McCreeryJon PardiLainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast in early January 2024. Some of the first guests to appear on the show include HARDYDustin LynchColbie Caillat and others.

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”

The iHeartPodcasts/MeatEater show is available anywhere you listen to podcasts, including in the iHeartRadio app. Select country stations will broadcast the show between 7-11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday evenings. Find God's Country here.
