Jessie James Decker is mourning the loss of her family's dog, Jakey.

The country singer, author and fashion brand owner, 37, shared a heartfelt tribute to her late dog on Instagram on Monday (March 16). Decker included photos taken with Jakey throughout his life, including with Decker’s husband, former NFL player Eric Decker, and the couple’s four children and other pets. Jakey was part of the family when the Deckers welcomed daughter Vivianne Rose in March 2014, and sons Eric “Bubby” Thomas II, Forrest Bradley and Denver Calloway, born in September 2015, March 2018 and February 2024, respectively.

“I’m heartbroken to share that our Jakey has passed. He was with us for 14 1/2 beautiful years,” Decker shared in her tribute. “He was our first baby and made us a family. He was with us as we fell in love, got engaged, married, with us as we had all four of our children (he loved them so much), every chapter of our lives… he grew up with us.

“We knew it was going to be sooner than later but it still feels abrupt when it happens,” she continued. “Our hearts are shattered into pieces. But I’m doing my best to focus on all the beautiful memories and moments we had together. Dear God why can’t dogs live as long as people? If you have any words of encouragement I will gladly take it. Eric and I are trying to stay strong for the kids but we find ourselves breaking into tears off and on. The kids are being so strong but this is not something we felt prepared for. We are hugging Jenny extra tight tonight since that is her brother who’s now in heaven.

“Hug all of your puppies tight. We are so lucky we get to have these beautiful animals in our world. Jakey we love you and we’ll miss you every day for the rest of our lives. What a beautiful gift you were to us🙏🏽 Rest easy Jakey. We love you forever sweet boy💙”
