Hunter Hayes manifested his appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show years before it happened.
Kelly Clarkson shared that she’d worked on a charity event a few years ago in Nashville, Tennessee, and Hayes agreed to be part of it.
“I’ve been manifesting this ever since. Just so you know,” Hayes replied when he appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday (march 9). “Listen, prayers, manifestation, whatever you believe in, I believe it’s real. I believe it’s very real because there was — we do this Q&A in our VIP soundcheck experience. And at every show, I end up getting questions about your show, or, ‘do you think she would ever cover one of your songs?’ and I’m like, ‘I would never sing it again.’ ...I manifested it two years ago, I was like, I would love to be on the show. I think we have a clip.”
Clarkson said the throwback clip is “so funny,” and, “I didn’t know this even existed until recently.”
In the video a fan asked Hayes which artist he’d want to collaborate with someday, and Hayes quickly responded “I’d do anything to collaborate with Kelly Clarkson. She’s my [expletive] hero. Just also really want her to have me on her show. …Kelly, please let me be on your show. I’ve been practicing. I’m ready.”
The Kelly Clarkson Show audience applauded, and Clarkson said, “of course!” She told Hayes, “you’re one of my favorites. …You’re one of the most talented people I’ve ever come across.”
The two artists went on to talk about Hayes’ new album, Evergreen, which arrived on Friday (March 6). He described the long-awaited project as “a series of letters from my future self.” Hayes will kick off his headlining “Evergreen Tour” later this month with special guests BLÜ EYES and Franklin Jonas & The Byzantines on select dates.
