LeAnn Rimes debuted âwild things runâ on Tuesday morning (February 24), a âcinematicâ ballad written for her character in 9-1-1: Nashville.
The Grammy-winning country artist plays Dixie Bennings on the action-drama that premiered in October 2025. Rimes said during an appearance on Good Morning America, âDixieâs great. I love her. She is â I think sheâs got the biggest heart underneath it all. You know, she feels like sheâs been slighted in life by the music industry and Nashville. And sheâs a single mom, and I think really all of her manipulation that you see kind of comes out of survival for her. And so, I think underneath that all, she really has a good heart. So, depending on the episode that you see, you love her or you hate her. It just depends. and you switch back and forth, which is what I love. I love when people hate me on the show. Itâs the best.
âIn this latest episode, I actually wrote a song called âwild things runâ with my dear friend Darrell Brown,â she continued. âWe wrote it for Dixie, and itâs kind of her song that she gets discovered by in the flashback, so â and then I did my own version! It just came out today.â
Rimes, who also reminisced on her iconic Coyote Ugly days after sharing a âsuper viralâ video with her 9-1-1: Nashville cast mates, hinted that âwild things runâ could blaze the trail for her next studio album. Rimesâ lates record is godâs work, a 12-track studio album that arrived in September 2022. She extended it into a 17-track edition, godâs work (resurrected) in November 2023. Since then, the âHow Do I Liveâ icon has also released a Greatest Hits Christmas album to celebrate the holiday season. Rimes said on GMA on Tuesday morning that âwild things runâ could be the first step to her next project.
âIâm one of those people that I like to live life after every record just to have something to write about, and itâs not, you know, itâs not performative in a lot of ways,â she said. âSo, this, actually, though, kind of opened the door for me because Iâve been wondering, Iâm like, âwhere am I going next?â And thereâs just â I love the cinematic vibe of the song, and it feels like a new direction, or a direction for a new record. So, Iâm starting. âŠI havenât had much time to sit down and write, so now that I have a little time on my hands, Iâm doing some writing.â
Rimes stars in 9-1-1: Nashville with Chris OâDonnell, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Jessica Capshaw, Hailey Kilgore, Michael Provost, Hunter McVey and Juani Feliz. ABC described the newest 9-1-1 installment as âa high-octane procedural about heroic first responders, as well as their family saga of power and glamour set in one of Americaâs most diverse and dynamic cities.â 9-1-1: Nashville airs on Thursday evenings on ABC, and is available to stream the following day on Hulu. The next episode will premiere on Thursday (February 26). Listen to âwild things runâ here, and watch Rimes' interview on Good Morning America below.
