The first months of fatherhood have “flown by” for Kelsey Hart.
The country artist’s daughter is officially 8 weeks old as of Tuesday (February 3). He and his wife, Auminee Hart, welcomed Coast Elara Hart at 4:24 p.m. on December 9. Hart said at the time that Baby No. 1 is “already so loved.” Eight weeks later, “we’re getting more sleep now than we (were during) the first few weeks,” Hart said with a laugh while catching up with iHeartCountry. “It's been a great experience so far, and we're pretty obsessed with her.”
Hart shared a sweet glimpse into his life as a dad with “Anything Like You,” a song and music video that arrived on Friday (February 6). The vulnerable lyrics find the Kentucky-born artist wondering whether he’s “gonna get it right” when he becomes a dad; however, if his daughter is anything like Auminee, he knows “she'll have me wrapped around her finger (and) steal my heart.” He teamed up with Adam Craig and Mike Mobley to write the Blake Bollinger-produced ballad months before Coast was born. Hart offers up his personal story of first-time fatherhood while widely relating to fathers of daughters and other new parents. Hart previously teased “Anything Like You” when he posted sweet moments he shared with Auminee, including finding out she was pregnant and the gender reveal.
Hart told iHeartCountry that his daughter was “all that was on my mind,” when he met up with Craig and Mobley to write music. He got home, picked up his guitar and played the first verse and chorus for Auminee, who was hooked for the beginning. Hart reconnected with his co-writers via Zoom to finish the song the next day, and quickly recorded it in the studio weeks later. Now, the first-time parents listen to the lyrics and reflect on “how fast the time’s going. …I know she’s still a baby, but it feels like a flash.”
Hart said he grew up singing in church and in talent shows. He picked up his first guitar around 20 or 21 years old, and played one of his first shows in a local pizza joint with friends showing up in the crowd and cheering for him. Now, he’s known for his first dance-worthy breakout single, “Life With You,” plus “Fireworks,” “Burn My Summer” and more, and getting ready to kick off a run of shows with fellow country star Dylan Scott.
