Chris Stapleton appears in a new Super Bowl ad that nods to the Grammy-winning artist’s historic National Anthem performance from the 2023 game.
Stapleton’s 30-second clip for Sazerac's Traveller Whiskey is slated to air shortly before kickoff on NBC and Telemundo on Super Bowl Sunday (February 8). The country megastar co-created Traveller’s Whiskey with Buffalo Trace master distiller Harlen Wheatley. Throughout the ad, viewers will catch glimpses of Buffalo Trace Distillery, behind-the-scenes moments, and a view of Stapleton walking toward the field to deliver the National Anthem.
Stapleton famously delivered a powerful, moving rendition of the National Anthem at Super Bowl LVII in 2023 (many viewers, including coaches and players, were moved to tears during the legendary performance). Stapleton said in an interview days before the performance that “it’s one of those calls you think you’re not gonna get. …The National Anthem’s not an easy song for singers, and it’s one that can go horribly wrong, as we’ve seen many times in the past. Hopefully it won’t happen for me, knock on wood. But yeah, no, if you’re gonna do it, this is the place to do it.” Stapleton is one of several country artists to perform the National Anthem throughout Super Bowl history, along with Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Eric Church, Mickey Guyton, Reba McEntire and more.
