Influencer Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, her husband, and their two children, were all found dead in western Mexico, prosecutors announced via USA TODAY.

The bodies of Garibay, 32, her husband, Licea Garibay, 36, their son, 13, and daughter, 6, were found wrapped in plastic inside a truck at an abandoned at a mechanic's shop. Licea, who sold cars and also farmed tomatoes, is believed to have been the person initially targeted in the attack, according to prosecutors.

“The scene was processed, and investigators found multiple pieces of evidence suggesting the family was killed there,” said Alfonso Gutiérrez Santillán, the Jalisco Attorney General's Office deputy prosecutor, after the bodies were located via the Mexican national daily newspaper El Financiero. “While the forensic results are not yet in, ballistic and blood evidence almost certainly confirm they were murdered at that location.”

A preliminary investigation included a search of the scene where the bodies were found and the site is currently under the protection of authorities and Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences experts amid the ongoing probe, the prosecutor's office confirmed. Garibay shared her final TikTok post on August 7, which showed her driving a car with a message about her traveling in a "dirt road neighborhood, which was viewed by more than 3.3 million people as of Wednesday (September 3).
